I am an 18 year old working political science/art student. I live with my parents in a modest home and my brother is in the army. My dad was fired over a year ago and has submitted hundreds of applications, but still can’t find work. My mom works 7am-7pm Monday-Friday and makes around $90,000 a year. We can’t afford medical/dental insurance. We have almost been kicked out of our home. We can’t pay our bills. I don’t qualify for any financial aid because of my moms income. To keep our home my parents have to keep taking out loans against my moms retirement fund. We are being taxed to death because people think we are the 1%, but we aren’t.
TAX THE RICH, NOT THE WORKING CLASS

I felt bad for you until you said you are being taxed to death because people think you’re in the top 1%. First, sweetheart, the top 1% is very few people. Second, the IRS doesn’t “think,” it looks at your W2. If you’re being taxed like the top 1%, you’re rich and need to shut up. Maybe instead you should just tell the truth. There are families surviving on $30,000 a year and if you guys have no major health problems and can’t live on $90,000 a year, you’re idiots. I’m sorry to be blunt, but you are wasting money somewhere.
This is very true. I live in Houston and a good friend of mine made about $90,000 last year. With that money he supports himself, his wife (who does not work or get money from the state for her medical issues), 4 pets (also with some significant medical issues), and half of MY household (me and my 2 cats), all while still helping his brother on occasion and trying to pay off his former debt and buying his house… There really is no good excuse for a family earning $90,000/year to not at least be comfortable.
